Family Working Group 2024-25

Following feedback in June 2024, we would like a representative group of parents/carers to work in partnership with us for 2024/25 on aspects of our continuous school improvement. For example, SCIP priorities,  communication, curriculum and perhaps other areas across our school. 

Initially the areas we would like to work together on are the format of the term 1 reports and the information for families about the contexts for learning. At the first meeting of the group, dates would be agreed  for terms 1 and 2. Islean Gibson will lead the group, but other staff may also contribute where they are taking the lead in particular areas. We will also have Morag Miller, Service Manager for primary education in attendance in most meetings.  

We would like to have our first meeting on Thursday 22^nd August 2024 at 6pm in Dounby School. In moving ahead, we would aim to have a mix of meetings, mornings/afternoons/afterschool/evenings and also a mix of face to face and online. We would hope that meetings would last no more than an hour. 

Ideally, we would be looking for a parent/carer representative for every class from P1-P7. We would like to have a representative of a parent/carer whose child will begin P1 in 2025 on the group. That would give us a working group of 8 parents from across the school. Please let the school office know if you are interested and able to attend. If there is more than one representative from an year group, we will invite the first parent/carer who expressed an interest the opportunity to join the group.
