School Finance Report October 2023

We have been working with our new Clerical team on our Finance reports over the last wee while and we are now in a position to share our current budget information. As you will see from the chart above, we have spent a large proportion of our DSM allocation, with the remaining monies going towards our winter heating and services costs.

Our £3,800 Creative Learning Network grant has enabled six days of supply cover to support Dounby staff when they have been presenting to national conferences and visiting local schools to share our excellent practice in developing learner led curriculums. It has also helped to purchase additional art and design materials, a new digital camera and sound recording equipment for all our pupils to use.

Our Pupil Equity Fund has been being put to very good use with £553.59 spent so far on our new Heinemann Active Maths programme and some of our Seesaw licensing being paid (453.63). The remaining money is going towards our new library and learning spaces and the renewal of our Heinemann license.

Our School Fund has a working total of £7,485.59 up until the end of October 2023. Since August, we have funded £153.73 for school jotters, £370 for additional classroom stationery and monies to cover the costs of our schools trips in June 2023. We are projecting a £2,000 spend on a school trip for each class in session 2023-24, which reduces our available monies to approximately £5,500, so your donations and support make such a difference. For example, our recent Christmas Cards fundraiser has made £391.23, and that will cover the costs of nearly 2 buses for an excursion.

This term we will be supporting both the Orkney Charitable Trust and the RNLI with our fundraising activities. Details about how we are donating monies raised for these charities and our school fund will be coming out over our social media this term, so please keep an eye out for those posts.
